The driving sounds of Sammy Shelor’s banjo playing not only helped define the Lonesome River Band upon his enlistment in 1990, his impeccable sense of timing and unique style have made him one of the most recognizable players in bluegrass.

Sammy has not only become an integral part of the sound that shaped bluegrass for more than two decades, he’s grown to become one of the senior statesmen of the genre.

Sammy joins Terry Herd in the studio on Bluegrass Radio Network’s INTO THE BLUE program to reflect on his inspirational career, the new LRB album No Turning Back (Rural Rhythm Records) and the road ahead. Airing the week of December 21, 2008.
