“This has always been such a great opportunity for the artists and fans to celebrate their love of all branches of bluegrass music, from progressive to traditional and everything in between,” said Smith, who hosts the event with her band Liberty Pike.
“And this year we are excited to say that all proceeds benefit the International Bluegrass Music Museum (IBMM) in Owensboro, Kentucky, which is doing an amazing job preserving the history of this high-spirited, distinctly American musical art form.”
Featured bands include Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike; Jerry Butler & the Blu-Jays; Brad Long & Friends; Kenny Stinson & Perfect Tymin’; Chicken Dinner Road; Common Ground, and Runaway Freight. The show will kick off with an hour of Bluegrass Gospel by local favorites the Friday Night Orphan Brigade.
“The board of trustees and staff of the IBMM are truly grateful for the leadership and vision shown by the members of Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike in helping us all preserve the history, artifacts and collections of bluegrass music,” said museum director Gabrielle Gray. “What a great way to kick off IBMA’s ‘World of Bluegrass Week,’ held in Nashville Sept. 27 – Oct. 3.”
