Dave Adkins of the driving new bluegrass group Dave Adkins & Republik Steele will perform the National Anthem for the 2013 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship – Nashville Regional at Vanderbilt’s Hawkins Field this Saturday, June 1, at 7:00 p.m. CDT.
Adkins will perform the Anthem as a guest on the Children’s Hospital & Arena Tour, which combines National Anthem performances at major sporting events with visits to local Children’s Hospitals. The Tour created by Sports PR professional Sherri George is a creative vehicle providing an invaluable emotional boost for hospitalized kids and their parents, while inspiring national patriotism and offering a winning scenario for sports teams and recording artists who perform.
Adkins will perform for Saturday evening’s game in Music City, which will pair the winners of the tournament’s Friday games: #3 Illinois vs #2 Georgia Tech, and #1 Vanderbilt vs #4 East Tennessee State. The game will be televised on ESPNU/ESPN3.
Dave Adkins can also be heard this week in an in-depth interview with Kyle Cantrell on Sirius XM Radio’s Bluegrass Junction this Thursday morning, May 30, at 7:30 a.m. EDT/6:30 a.m. CDT.
Dave Adkins & Republik Steele will perform a 45-minute private set for children and their parents at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt on a later date, with a set list ranging from their favorite gospel hymns to songs from their hit debut album “That’s Just the Way I Roll,” whose title song debuted at #8 on the Bluegrass Today Weekly Airplay Chart on January 25, and has continued to hold strong since, recently topping out at #4.
