Ralph Stanley II, better known in the industry and by his peers as “Two,” is the son of the legendary Dr. Ralph Stanley. Ralph II started performing on stage beside his dad when he was only two years old. Destined to follow in his father and late Uncle Carter Stanley’s footsteps, he stepped forward to become the lead singer for Dr. Ralph Stanley and The Clinch Mountain Boys in 1995. In 2002, he received a Grammy award with his father, Dr. Ralph Stanley and Jim Lauderdale for their collaboration on “Lost in the Lonesome Pines”. In addition, he received two other Grammy nominations for “Carrying On” and “Stanley Blues”.
In 2008 Ralph II struck out on his solo career and since that time has accumulated countless hits and awards. Recently he performed on the world famous Grand Ole Opry stage, once again beside his father, Dr. Ralph Stanley singing tunes from the brand new Rebel Records release Side By Side. Listening to Ralph Stanley II, I can hear echoes of Carter Stanley once again, a generation removed, resounding off the Hills and down the hollers of Southwestern Virginia,” said Dwight Yoakam.
Ralph Stanley II as he nears his twentieth anniversary of touring and turning out more hit songs carrying on the Stanley tradition, the best is yet to come. For more information, please visit Ralph2.com.
