The chart-topping tune appears on Volume Five’s album Drifter on Mountain Fever Records that debuted last year on Billboard’s Top 10 Bluegrass Album Chart.

“I would like to thank everyone for all the kind words to me and the V5 members. I also want to thank all the guys that have been with the band over the years and have contributed to our sound and success. I would like to thank Harry Formby Clark, Adam Duke, Jeff Partin, Mark Hodges, Casey Cullwell, Jesse Daniel, Shane Blackwell, and Aaron Ramsey. Thanks so much to Moonstruck Management as well. We just couldn’t do this without the entire team,” said Harrell.

Volume Five’s Drifter Debuts on Billboard’s Top 10 Bluegrass Albums Chart

album-cover-volume-five-600Volume Five made its debut this week at #5 on Billboard’s Top 10 Bluegrass Album Chart with their impressive new project Drifter.  The album is receiving rave reviews including Parcbench Magazine saying it “raises the bar on their already impressive reputation.”

The first single release, “I Am A Drifter” written by Donna Ulisse and Marc Ross, continues to garner radio chart success.  It is the current #1 song on the Bluegrass Today Top 20, #7 on the Sirius XM Bluegrass Junction’s Most Played Tracks for June, and debuted this month on Power Source Magazine’s Top 35 Songs Chart.  Drifter is also crossing over to other formats; the track, “When I Go Away,” is today’s POWERPLAY song on Eagle Country Radio. Drifter is available to radio stations worldwide at AirPlayDirect.com.

“Volume Five can please a fan who just wants to hear a bluegrass beat with a pleasant melody, but the rhythmic interplay between the instruments can enthrall a more sophisticated listener after multiple hearings. It’s a special skill, and may ultimately be the one thing that eventually allows this talented quintet to rise to the top, a la Blue Highway,” said Bluegrass Today in a recent album review.

This impressive group is led by Glen Harrell (fiddle & vocals) who is joined by Harry Clark (mandolin & vocals), Chris Williamson (bass & vocals), Patton Wages (banjo & vocals), and Colby Laney (guitar & vocals).

Drifter is available at numerous digital outlets, VolumeFiveBG.com, mountainfever.com and more fine retail outlets.

With gems such as “Lonely Wind,” “Ranching Man,” “Tall Pines,” “Scarecrow,” and the consummate love song, “Because of You,” Drifter, is full of future hits for Volume Five.

Mountain Fever Records is pleased to announce “I Am A Drifter,” a new single from Volume Five is available to radio and consumers today! Volume Five’s new album, Drifter, will be released June 24th.

VOLUME-FIVEFounded by Glen Harrell (fiddle & vocals), Volume Five also includes the talents of Harry Clark (mandolin & vocals), Chris Williamson (bass & vocals), Patton Wages (banjo & vocals, and Colby Laney (guitar & vocals). These five musicians together truly blend into a band with staying power. V5 has proven just that with their previous recordings on Mountain Fever Records. In 2014 they garnered two International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) nominations; Emerging Artist and Gospel Recorded Performance for their album The Day We Learn To Fly. In 2015 they received another nomination for IBMA’s Emerging Artist of the Year and a GMA Dove Award Nomination for Bluegrass Song of the Year for “Daddy Was An Old Time Preacher Man,” a song appearing on their Voices album.

I Am A Drifter” was penned by another well-known bluegrass artist, Donna Ulisse along with Marc Rossi. “When I got the demo of ‘I Am A Drifter,’ Jerry Salley was singing the vocal,” says Harrell. “The first thing that caught my ear was how Jerry began the song with just a guitar and I felt that was so different, and could make for a great lead off cut on an album. Once the melody and lyrics began to meld, I envisioned this as our first single immediately. It seems to have all the ingredients to stand alone as a solid song while also setting the tone for the entire album.”

“Drifter” is available to radio programmers via AirplayDirect or by emailing radio@mountainfever.com, and to consumers via iTunes and Amazon. The complete album, Drifter, will be available everywhere this June 24th. For more information on Volume Five, please visit volumefivebg.com.
