Adkins & Loudermilk Receive IBMA Award Nomination for Emerging Artist of the Year

Adkins-Loudermilk-600w

One of bluegrass music’s most talked about new groups, Adkins & Loudermilk, has received an International Bluegrass Music Association Award Nomination as Emerging Artist of the Year. The six piece band, led by Dave Adkins and Edgar Loudermilk, also includes the talents of Glen Crain, Jeff Autry, Zack Autry and Barry Crabtree who have been busy touring the country promoting the Adkins & Loudermilk album released earlier this year on Mountain Fever Records.

“I can’t thank the IBMA members enough for thinking of Edgar and myself when casting their ballots. That means the world to us. We’ve had an incredible time out on the road this year and we are still amazed at positive responses we get at shows from our friends (fans) and the support of radio stations around the world,” said Adkins.

The 2015 IBMA Awards will be presented Thursday, October 1 at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh, North Carolina. For tickets and information on the full week of bluegrass events, please visit ibma.org.

Radio stations have also been supportive resulting in six tracks from Adkins & Loudermilk appearing on six different radio charts including Bluegrass Today’s Top 20 Weekly & Monthly Charts, SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction’s Most Played Tracks, Roots Music Report’s Top 50 Bluegrass Songs, Cashbox Magazine’s Top 10 Bluegrass Songs, Power Source Magazine’s Top 30 Song charts. The first two single releases, “Backside of Losing” with lead vocals by Adkins and “Georgia Mountain Man,” with Loudermilk taking the reign, continue to climb the Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine’s Top 30 National Bluegrass Survey Chart.

Mountain Fever Records Releases Debut, Self-titled Album from Adkins & Loudermilk

Adkins & Loudermilk album cover 2015Mountain Fever Records announces the release of the debut, self-titled album from Adkins & Loudermilk. This highly anticipated project has already produced a chart-making first single with “Backside of Losing.”

What started out as two impressive solo careers has morphed into what is already being described as a powerhouse team of vocals and songwriting. Dave Adkins has already had a successful career fronting his former band, Republik Steel, and Edgar Loudermilk has been known as one of the most solid bass-playing vocalists in bluegrass, having toured extensively with the likes of Rhonda Vincent, Marty Raybon and IIIrd Tyme Out. But when Adkins & Loudermilk met a couple years ago and began melding their talents of singing and songwriting together, it became clear to them that forming a new duo was much more musically exciting for them than going it alone. So in 2013, the two officially launched their band and set out touring while still promoting successful solo projects on Mountain Fever Records. Since the band’s formal beginning, the duo has been delighting audiences across the country gaining faithful fans who have patiently waited two years for the release of their debut album, appropriately titled Adkins & Loudermilk.

This new album features 12 songs that, by design, give equal due to both men as individual artists, while still shining a spotlight on their collective talents. The balance of Adkins’ growling, rock-tinged vocals combined with the bluegrass tenor vocal chops of Loudermilk, will offer listeners ample opportunity to enjoy all aspects of Adkins & Loudermilk. The album kicks off with back to back, decidedly bluegrass numbers, “Georgia Mountain Man,” sung by Loudermilk, and “Cut The Rope” featuring Adkins. With writing credits going to both men throughout, the album also features strong contributions from other writers of note including David Morris, Mark Brinkman and Hoyt Axton, among others. “Backside of Losing,” the first single from the album written by Adkins and Mark Brinkman, has already been a hit with radio programmers and fans, making its debut on the Bluegrass Today Top 20 Songs chart. One of the strongest songs and performances from the project is “Weeds,” written by David Morris and Chris Dockins, and a winner in this year’s “Hazel Dickens Song Contest.” From bluegrass to blues, up-tempos to ballads, Adkins & Loudermilk have come out of the gate full force with their debut, self-titled album on Mountain Fever Records.

Adkins & Loudermilk is now available via digital download at iTunes and wherever great music is sold. For more about Adkins & Loudermilk, visit www.adkinsloudermilk.com. For more about Mountain Fever Records, visit www.mountainfever.com.
