Donna Hughes Receives Key to the City of Trinity at Red Carpet Event


keytocity-jessiehill-300wSinger-Songwriter Donna Hughes is proud to announce today’s two new album releases, FROM THE HEART and FLY, plus the music video for her song “Red Oak Tree.” During last Saturday’s red carpet release event, Mayor Protem Jessie Hill of Trinity, NC (Donna’s hometown) presented her with the Key to the City and proclaimed August 23rd as Donna Hughes Day.

Radio has certainly supported these long awaited new albums as Donna is #1 this month on AirPlayDirect’s Global Indicator Top 50 Albums Chart that covers all genres of music.

Her first single release, ‘The Way I Am,” made its debut on Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine’s Top 30 song chart for September 2014.

The new music video for her original song “Red Oak Tree” premiered during the release party held at the Sunset Theatre in Asheboro, NC last Saturday. The video can be viewed on YouTube, and other online outlets. “Red Oak Tree” appears on both albums providing her fans with both an acoustic and piano version of this haunting tune.

Red Oak Tree” was filmed and directed by Anthony Ladd, Kneelindesign of Pikeville, TN. Donna Hughes coordinated costumes and production schedules which was a huge task. The video begins in modern day times and spans several hundred years and included over 100 of her friends and family that participated during the 3-day video shoot. It was filmed exclusively in North Carolina. Locations include: Asheboro City Cemetery (Asheboro), the home of Chad & Barbara Hall (otherwise known as the “John Hughes” home); Loraye Hughes’ home (Donna’s mother), and the Denton Farm Park. Trinity River Band Unveils New Album Artwork and Release Date

cd_artwork_trb_00_webTrinity River Band is proud to unveil the new cover art for their highly anticipated new album titled BETTER THAN BLUE releasing April 22, 2014. The artwork was designed by Anthony Ladd of Kneelindesign who named the image “faire demi-tour” from the French word meaning “turn around.”

The group features band members Sarah Harris (Lead & Harmony Vocals, Mandolin); Mike Harris (Guitar, Lead & Harmony Vocals); Lisa Harris (Bass, Harmony Vocals); Josh Harris (Banjo, Dobro, Harmony Vocals); and Brianna Harris (Fiddle, Harmony Vocals).

Trinity River Band recently signed with Orange Blossom Records who recently released the group’s new single “Better Than Blue” written by Larry Cordle and Lisa Shaffer. The song is available to radio stations worldwide at for digital purchase at iTunes, Amazon, and more sites.

CUMBERLAND RIVER is proud to announce the new music video of their original song “Justified” from their Rural Rhythm Records album, THE LIFE WE LIVE.  The video was filmed on location in the band’s hometown of Harlan, Kentucky by Anthony Ladd of Kneelindesign who also served as Video Producer.  The song, “Justified,” along with five more original songs were featured on two episodes of the FX Network’s hit drama, JUSTIFIED (starring Timothy Olyphant) last season with more of their music set to be included in Season 3 premiering January 17.

THE LIFE WE LIVE has been honored in numerous year-end charts including: TOP 20 BEST OF BLUEGRASS – ENGINE 145; TOP 10 BLUGRASS ALBUMS OF 2011 (Keith Lawrence); and WNCW RADIO’S TOP 50 BLUEGRASS ALBUMS 2011.  “This is the sound that contemporary bluegrass has been missing.  Blue to the core and grass throughout.  This is what bluegrass music should sound like and Cumberland River is flowing quite well in this regard,” said Bob Cherry of Cybergrass.
