Lonesome River Band Receives Four IBMA Award Nominations

As announced this morning during a press conference that aired on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction, three of the band’s nominations are for songs from their Billboard Bluegrass Chart album TURN ON A DIME released by Mountain Home Music Company last fall.

Lonesome River Band’s Award Nominations include: SONG OF THE YEAR for “Her Love Won’t Turn On A Dime,” written by Bart Butler, Timothy Johnson, Shane Minor and featuring the impressive lead vocals by LRB band member Brandon Rickman; GOSPEL RECORDED EVENT OF THE YEAR for “Holding To The Right Hand” written by Marvin Clark, also featuring lead vocals by Rickman; and INSTRUMENTAL RECORDED PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR for “Cumberland Gap” arranged and produced by Sammy Shelor who also received a nomination for BANJO PERFORMER OF THE YEAR.

“Her Love Won’t Turn On A Dime” has been a true radio hit, garnering the #1 spot seven times on the Bluegrass Today Top 20 Chart; reaching #1 on the Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine’s Top 30 National Bluegrass Survey Top 30 Chart, and currently holding #1 position on this month’s Cashbox Magazine’s Top 10 Bluegrass Songs Chart.

Sammy Shelor is one of the most influential and most in-demand banjo players of our time. His extraordinary talents and magnetic personality are certainly key to his success as he leads the multi-award winning Lonesome River Band. Shelor is a member of the Virginia Music Hall of Fame, a 5-time winner of the International Bluegrass Music Association Banjo Performer of the Year Award, and 3-time winner of the SPBGMA Banjo Performer of the Year Award.

Shelor recorded and performed with country super star Alan Jackson and returned to the Late Show with David Letterman to perform “Blacktop” from Jackson’s The Bluegrass Album. In June 2015, Lonesome River Band members Sammy Shelor and Mike Hartgrove performed with actor Martin Short when Steve Martin was honored with the 43rd American Film Institute’s Life Achievement Award – the highest honor for a career in film. The award was presented to Steve Martin during the gala tribute at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Calif. and aired on TBS. New Music Video By Lonesome River Band

After enthusiastic fan responses over the last week to their countdown for their new music video, Lonesome River Band is proud to announce the official release of “Lila Mae.” The video made its debut this morning on Mountain Music Company’s YouTube Channel and can also be viewed at LonesomeRiverBand.com and the band’s Facebook page. The song “Lila Mae,” written by Alex Kline, Kirk Sauers, and LRB band member Brandon Rickman, appears on their album Turn On A Dime that made its debut on the Billboard Top 10 Bluegrass Chart last November.

This Civil War era video was shot on location at Wheatlands Plantation in Sevierville, Tenn., was directed by Kim White at View Finders TV.com, and produced by Mountain Home Music Company. Lonesome River Band’s manager, Josh Trivett, owner of Moonstruck Management, along with Natalie Moore and Nathan Morrison, play the lead characters in the video. Lonesome River Band To Debut New Album at IBMA World of Bluegrass

ibma-lrb-poster-dates2Lonesome River Band is set to debut their new album, TURN ON A DIME from Mountain Home Music, this week at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass in Raleigh, NC. The band will perform at their Pre-CD Release Party on Wednesday, October 1 at the Architect and Social House located at 108 ½ East Hargett St. beginning at 11:00 PM.

On Thursday, October 2, Lonesome River Band will appear at the Youth Council Band Drop-In at the Raleigh Convention Center. The youth will have an opportunity to ask the band about their careers and also jam with Lonesome River Band. Founded in 2012, the IBMA Youth Council (YC) is comprised of dedicated youth active in the bluegrass community. “The goal is to get kids interested and involved in the bluegrass community,” says council chairperson Andy Rigney. The YC strives to provide an outlet and direction for an up-and-coming generation of bluegrass and roots musicians and budding industry professionals.

Lonesome River Band Added to Pickin’ In The Pasture Line-Up

Festival promoter Andy Alexander said, “Sammy Shelor’s group has been one of the biggest draws in bluegrass music for decades. Their unique sound has spawned a generation of new bluegrass fans. Lonesome River Band certainly brings a high level of excitement to the stage and we are really looking forward to them joining us.”

Pickin’ In The Pasture is held at 2515 Covert Rd, Lodi, NY. The gates will open to campers by noon on Wednesday, August 20. Performances begin at 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 21, 11:00 am on Friday August 22, 11:00 am on Saturday August 23. Lonesome River Band Signs with Mountain Home Music Company

The band’s multi-award-winning banjo player Sammy Shelor comments: “Lonesome River Band is very excited about the opportunity to be a part of The Mountain Home/Crossroads Music Family. We look forward to recording this next project and having the support of such a great team. Thanks to Mickey Gamble and the rest of the team for making this a reality.”

The Lonesome River Band is a staple in Bluegrass and has remained a headlining act at major Bluegrass and Roots Music festivals for years. They continue their heavy presence as a sought-after live band as they begin work on this new album.
