Newcomer Blues Artist Jesse Kramer Added to Uncle Dave Macon Days Kick-Off Concert

jesse-kramerUncle Dave Macon Days Music & Arts Festival is proud to announce they have added Blues artist Jesse Kramer to the Kick-Off Party on July 7, 2016. The event will take place at Main St. Music, 527 Main St. in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out will headline the concert that will also include a performance by The Glade City Rounders. Tickets are $15 at the door.  Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show begins at 7:15 pm.

Jesse Kramer, the talented 19-year-old Indianapolis native, is quite the old soul. Unlike the millennials of his generation, Jesse has a deep affection for the Mississippi Delta sounds of the blues. Take that soulful sound and combine it with his influence from two of his modern day heroes, Amos Lee and Chris Stapleton, and fans are immediately drawn in. Not only is he a compelling vocalist, he is equally gifted as a songwriter with a unique ability to write songs far beyond his 19 years of experience in life. Unique in every aspect of his being, fans across the world will soon fall in love with the endless gifts of Jesse Kramer.

Jesse made his on-air live performance debut this week on WGNS Radio that immediately earned him the respect of host Scott Walker. “Man he has talent. I think we will see his name in lights soon!”

Before the Kick-Off concert gets underway July 7, an attempt of setting the Guinness Book of World Record for the World’s Largest Square Dance at 6:00 pm on the Public Square in Murfreesboro. The Hog Slop String Band and the America’s Square Dance Band will perform. Marcia Campbell from Grand Ole Opry Dancers and WSM 650 will also be in attendance.  The “square dance” is the official dance of the state of Tennessee and the event organizers hope to break the record previously set by the state of Illinois.  No registration fee is required and all skill levels are welcome. Uncle Pen Days 2015 1000wThe Bill Monroe Music Park & Campground is proud to announce details for the 41st Annual Bill Monroe Hall of Fame & Uncle Pen Days Festival taking place from September 23-26, 2015. A stellar line-up of bands has been announced and a detailed performance schedule has been posted at billmonroemusicpark.com. One of the highlights of the event will certainly be Raymond Fairchild’s induction into the Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 26.

Raymond Fairchild is a legendary banjoist and has performed on the Grand Ole Opry since 1977. He has appeared on numerous television specials for the Nashville Network and other network stations. He recently fairchildcompleted a two-hour documentary special for Japan Broadcasting, focusing on the evolution of music from Ireland to the United States. Raymond has recorded over twenty albums and videos during his impressive career and scored two Gold Records for having sold over two million copies of his banjo instrumentals. In 1982, “The Appalachian Journey,” a documentary produced by renowned author and folklorist Allen Lomax in conjunction with Columbia University, was filmed so Raymond’s music would be preserved for generations to come. It is stored in the archives of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. Raymond’s hometown has honored him by placing a sign at each end of the valley, which simply reads, “Welcome to Maggie Valley Home of Raymond Fairchild.”

The 39th Annual Bluegrass Hall of Fame & Uncle Pen Days Festival will be held September 18-21, 2013 at the Bill Monroe Memorial Bluegrass Music Park & Campground in Brown County, Indiana. The 4-day event includes a stellar line-up of over 30 bluegrass bands, instrument and vocal workshops, jam sessions, camping, food, vendors, and fellowship. George-ShufflerOn Saturday, September 21, George Shuffler will be inducted into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame. George grew up in Burke County, NC where he taught himself to play on a mail-order guitar. He made his Grand Ole Opry debut at the age of 17 performing with The Bailey Brothers. George toured 20 years with the Stanley Brothers where he developed his unique cross picking guitar style that has been a big influence to many musicians. He was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Hall of Fame in 2011 and was a recipient of the North Carolina Heritage Award in 2007.
