Nashville, TN (February 7, 2024) — Larry Stephenson, noted as one of the “Finest Tenor Voices In All of Bluegrass” and “The Class of Bluegrass” with powerful yet simplistic stage shows, where he and his band let the singing and musicianship do the talking…has put together an incredible lineup of songs in this collection, entitled Cast A Lonesome Shadow.
Celebrating an illustrious 35-year musical journey, just since his band’s introduction, February 10, 1989: The Larry Stephenson Band – making this the perfect time to release LSB’s long-awaited and anticipated album, Cast A Lonesome Shadow.
Whysper Dream Music has prepared for this release all last year by sending several singles to radio and digital stores: “That’ll Get Me Through Missouri,” “Good Love Gets Better With Time,” and “I’m A Ramblin’ Man,” followed by “Lonesome With Heartaches” released just before the holidays.
Other toe-tapping, dance hall, story, and poor-pitiful woe’s me style songs on Cast A Lonesome Shadow are: “I Cast A Lonesome Shadow” (the title track chosen by Stephenson), “Color Me Lonely,” “If You’re Gonna Leave Me,” “Hushed and Still,” “Sonny Weather” (instrumental written by LSB’s Banjo man Derek Vaden), “Making Believe,” and “Love Me Like You Used To Do.”
This album includes some great banjo-picking from current band mate Derek Vaden and previous members Nick Dauphinais on guitar and Andy Brown on the upright bass. The talented Deanie Richardson also came in on a few songs during the studio sessions, lending her fiddle technique. At least half the songs are brand-new originals or new to bluegrass. Stephenson noted that he is a co-writer on two cuts with some excellent writer friends in the business.
Larry said, “I can’t even believe time has passed like it has, but when I look back on what a true journey this has been, the friendships made and the caliber musicians that cut their teeth, so to speak, as “on-the-road” musicians… I can’t lie, I might get a little soft hearted. Watching them grow in their musical abilities, I mean, look at some of them now! Regarding the music on this album: I’m really proud of this one. The guys did a fabulous job in the studio and it all just happened so easily. I knew it was time for another studio release after our first LIVE album. After many hours of going through new songs, talking to the band and digging through my huge library, this is what we landed on. Don’t miss Deanie’s, triple fiddling or Derek’s instrumental. From old to new, and never done with a bluegrass style, I think there is something for everyone. Enjoy.”
The 11-song project can be found making its debut on radio stations around the globe on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Just in time, as the band owner / bus driver / lead vocalist / songwriter / mandolin picker / high-lonesome TENOR singer Larry Stephenson celebrates 35 years this Saturday, February 10, 2024, the album hits your favorite online stores for digital sales and streaming platforms. And, the band kicks off their new year by heading out on 10-day long tour, starting with a show in North Palm Beach, Florida on February 11th and ending with a television taping back home in Nashville, Tennessee.
Larry Stephenson has been touring the U.S. and other countries for an incredible 50+ years, and the Larry Stephenson Band can still be found heading up mainstream festivals and shows.
You will not want to miss this new project – CAST A LONESOME SHADOW by this staple in the bluegrass industry.
