Mighty Cord Records, led by industry legend Larry Cordle, is thrilled to announce the signing of powerhouse vocalist Val Storey and the digital release of her highly anticipated bluegrass single, “I’ve Just Seen A Face.”
A seasoned vocalist with deep roots in country, bluegrass, and gospel, Val Storey has earned a reputation as one of Nashville’s most respected voices. Her soulful delivery and pure tone have captivated audiences for decades, both in the studio and on stage. Val has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the industry and remains a sought-after collaborator and live performer.
“I’ve Just Seen A Face” offers a fresh take on the beloved Beatles classic penned by Paul McCartney. Val’s version brings heartfelt vocals and rich acoustic textures to this timeless tune. “I have always loved this particular Beatles song,” says Val. “I was thrilled to discover that it’s in Paul McCartney’s top five favorite songs he’s written. The lyrics capture that magical moment when you see someone for the first time and know they’ve stolen your heart. I’m excited for you to hear it.”
Larry Cordle, who has had the privilege of performing alongside Val at Nashville’s iconic Station Inn for over a decade, shares his admiration for her talents: “It’s always exciting to bring great new artists into our Bluegrass family. Val is one of my all-time favorite female singers. When she sings, she owns it. I had the pleasure of recording Share Your Secrets With Me, an incredible country album with her, which was delayed due to the pandemic and a horrific motorcycle accident that nearly took her life. It was finally released in 2024.”
For this project, Val and Larry brought together a stellar bluegrass band, including Bryan Sutton (acoustic guitar & reso guitar), Aubrey Haynie (mandolin & fiddle), Scott Vestal (banjo), Mark Fain (bass), and Mike Rogers with his “Brothers of The Heart” group—Jimmy Fortune, Ben Isaacs, and Bradley Walker. Their collaboration has truly elevated this release.
