Circa Blue Releases New Christmas Single to Radio

Circa Blue is proud to announce they have released a new Christmas single titled “Bells of Home” to radio. The song is the title track for their upcoming album releasing later this month. “Bells of Home” was written by David Morris and Dawn Kenny and is now available at AirPlay Direct or by request.

“Every year at National Media Services, we select one prestigious customer to record a Christmas album. For our tenth anniversary it was an easy choice to select Circa Blue. The band came in during the sweltering Summer months and made it Christmas in July in the Upper Room Studios at National Media Services. We couldn’t be happier with the result,” said the company.

Co-writer David Morris explains more about the original song, “At its heart, ‘Bells of Home’ gets at something most of us have felt at some point: Being homesick at the holidays. Once we identified a soldier as our narrator, the possibilities for images and contrasts came pouring out. The hardest part was finding a battle that fit our story line – a fierce firefight, in the snow, on Christmas Eve. We wanted historical accuracy because we knew some listeners would check us. We found what we needed in Belgium in 1944. With the factual frame and a bit of imagination, Dawn and I pulled Bells of Home together quickly. It’s a tribute to families, to traditions and to those who gave up their holidays – some temporarily, some permanently – simply because, as the song notes, “some things are worth fighting for.”

New Single: “Sold” by Dave Adkins Hits #1 on Bluegrass Today Top 20

da_cover_webDave Adkins has released another red hot second single, “Sold,” from his #1 Billboard Top Bluegrass Album. The impressive cover of the John Michael Montgomery 90’s hit, is currently #1 on the Bluegrass Today Top 20 Song Chart.  “Adkins delivers [the song] with gusto with the banjo his constant companion,” said Lonesome Road Review.

This is the second single release from his self-titled album on Mountain Fever Records to top the charts. The first, “Change Her Mind” written by Adkins, was #1 on Sirius XM Bluegrass Junction’s Most Played Tracks in May and hit #1 three times on the Bluegrass Today Top 20 Weekly Song Chart since the album was released late February. The song jumped to #9 this month on the Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine’s Top 30 Song Chart with the album also at #9 on the Top 15 Album Chart.

The hits just keep coming from the Dave Adkins album. The lightning fast trucker song, “Turn and Burn” co-written by Dave Adkins, David Morris and Dawn Kenny, was the 2nd Place Award winner in the prestigious Hazel Dickens Songwriting Contest. Dave Adkins Continues to Reign On Top of the Bluegrass Radio Charts

da_cover_webDave Adkins self-titled album, that recently made its debut at #1 on Billboard’s Top 10 Bluegrass Albums chart for retail sales, is now garnering significant success on the bluegrass radio charts.  Adkins’ original song and first single release, “Change Her Mind,” is #1 on Sirius XM Bluegrass Junction’s Most Played Tracks with the album at #2 on the station’s Most Played Albums this month.

Change Her Mind” has also appeared on the Bluegrass Today Top 20 Weekly Singles Chart for 11 weeks, recently earning the #1 spot, and appearing in the top 10 for four consecutive weeks. The publication hit the mark saying, “Adkins is entertaining, and truly has one of the most powerful voices in bluegrass today.”

Now Released! Lonesome River Band’s “Bridging the Tradition”

Tonight, March 18, the band continues the tradition of debuting their new albums at the world famous Station Inn in Nashville. On Saturday, March 19, Mountain Home Music Company will host a release celebration and concert at the Isis Restaurant & Music Hall in Asheville, N.C. On Sunday, March 20, Lonesome River Band will perform at The Barn at Chantilly Farm in Floyd, VA.

Virginia Country Music Hall of Famer and 5-Time IBMA Banjo Performer of the Year, Sammy Shelor leads the group that is constantly breaking new ground in Acoustic music. Music & New Baby News from Shannon & Heather Slaughter

heather-and-jed-slaughterOne of bluegrass music’s favorite couples, Shannon and Heather Slaughter, are proud to announce the birth of a new son, Jedediah (Jed) Smith Slaughter. Their new baby joined the family on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in Birmingham, Ala, much to the delight of his older sister Rae.

Heather will be coming off the road to spend more time with the couple’s two children, however she will be a guest on the new Shannon Slaughter & County Clare album releasing later this year. Heather will be lending her exquisite harmony vocals, singing lead on another track, and joining Shannon on a highly anticipated Porter & Dolly duet. The band will begin recording in March at Eastwood Studios in Virginia.

Bluegrass Today calls Shannon Slaughter “a rare bluegrass triple threat: a gifted and disciplined songwriter, a robust and evocative singer, and a substantial guitarist, on both rhythm and lead,” so fans will no doubt be anxious to hear his 10 original songs on the 14 track album.

New Single Release by Dave Adkins on Mountain Fever Records

Dave Adkins is a powerhouse of talent. Five Chart Songs from Trinity River Band’s Heartstrings Album

Five impressive tracks have appeared on the Bluegrass Today Top 20 chart with the most recent “How Blue,” with lead vocals by two-time IBMA Momentum Vocalist Nominee Sarah Harris, and “Rusty Old American Dream” with sibling Joshua Harris singing the lead.

The Bluegrass Situation hosted the song premiere of the Reba cover “How Blue” back in May saying, “The band got groovy when recording ‘How Blue,’ anchored by the bluesy guitar stylings of Mike Harris.
