The Cleverlys at Climate City Expo — A Benefit for The Collider

One-of-a-kind music and comedy band to perform at 10-day celebration of Asheville’s creativity and commitment to climate change awareness and action

ASHEVILLE, N.C., Feb. 22, 2019 — On Thursday, April 4, The Cleverlys will take the stage at the Salvage Station as part of The Collider’s 2019 Climate City Expo. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Available online , tickets are $22 per person, with proceeds benefiting The Collider.

“We are excited to be a part of this event. For years we have tried to do our part as we have researched and developed a ‘methane muffler’ for all the farm animals at Cleverly Farm,” joked Digger Cleverly. “Looking forward to this event to raise awareness.”

While the “methane muffler” may still be a bit of a pipe dream, The Collider couldn’t be more thrilled to have this one-of-a-kind music and comedy band supporting our vision of a world prepared for climate change.

The Cleverlys
The Cleverlys are a one-of-a-kind comedy/music blend coming from the remote part of the Ozark Mountains, near Cane Spur, Arkansas. Digger Cleverly, along with his nephews Ricky Lloyd, Sock, DVD and Cub, make up The Cleverlys. They have traveled the globe — if the globe only consisted of the United States — performing at music venues and some of the nation’s largest festivals like Stagecoach, Telluride, CMA Music Fest and even the Grand Ole Opry.

The New York Times wrote, “If Earl Scruggs, Dolly Parton, and Spinal Tap spawned a litter of puppies, it would be the Cleverlys.”

Don’t be fooled by this faux-family band — they are all accomplished musicians putting their unique bluegrass spin on cover songs from any genre. The Cleverlys’ set list includes genius arrangements of tunes like Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” a medley of Blackstreet’s “No Diggity,” and Flo Rida’s “Low” that went viral on Facebook, with over 11 million views from a local TV appearance.

Climate City Expo
The Cleverlys’ show is part of the CCx: Arts track of The Collider’s Climate City Expo, which aims to showcase how artists are using craft, film, photography and fine art to bring attention to our changing climate and environment. The heart of the Expo is CCx: Business — a convening of global leaders and visionaries to discuss solutions to humanity’s biggest challenge. However, CCx 2019’s additional tracks of programming — including Luminaries, NextGen, Arts, Eats, Learn and Faith — are designed to showcase the many ways our communities are rising to the challenge of climate change.

We develop, train and fund next-generation entrepreneurs creating breakthrough solutions that enable humanity to adapt and thrive in a changing climate. California’s Huck Finn Jubilee Music Festival is back in 2018

West Coast’s Largest Bluegrass Festival Under New Ownership

Ontario, CA: For over 40 years, the annual three-day music festival in Southern California, Huck Finn Jubilee, delivered acts from a long list of luminaries such as Ralph Stanley, Alison Krauss,
Del McCoury, Punch Brothers, Rhonda Vincent, Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, Emmylou Harris, Peter Rowan, and more. After a one-year hiatus, the festival will return to Ontario, CA on October 5, 6, and 7 in 2018 under new owners Nikki and Roger.

“It’s important that we honor the tradition of this festival because the community deserves it and we want to take you on the musical journey that we experienced” says Nikki and Roger. The couple, both executives at an experiential marketing firm in Los Angeles, attended the festival in 2016 and were impressed with the music, array of activities for people of all ages and overall positive vibe. When they heard the festival wasn’t going to return in 2017, they purchased the brand and built their dream team of industry experts in hopes of keeping the festival alive and maintaining the high-level of quality its fans and the community deserves.

Entering its 41st year, the 2018 Huck Finn Jubilee will offer the entire festival experience featuring traditional and progressive bluegrass music, local food, craft beer, a unique array of
handcrafted arts and crafts, access to beautiful park amenities, camping, fishing and general family fun.
